Xavier’s College Calcutta with B.com (Hons), M.com from the Calcutta University, Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, P.HD on international economics from the Temple University, USA, member of the International Society of Financial Advisors and member of the Indian Arbritration Council. Dr. Sarkar started his career as a probationary officer with the Hambro Nicco UCO Financial Services Ltd., (a joint venture investment banking firm of Hambros Bank of U.K., UCO Bank and Nicco Group) during 1980 at the Calcutta. After a two-year stint he was sent on deputation to M/s Strauss Turnbull & co an offshoot of Hambros and members of the London stock/metal exchange. During this period he was instrumental in financial analysis of listed companies, companies entering the capital market with an initial offer of various instruments of investments and track the metal exchange for a weekly report published by the firm. His meticulous analytical skills and intutive powers for problem solving induced Hambros bank to extend a job offer. From Hambros. During his three years with Hambros he widely travelled the entire Europe specializing in structuring innovative financial instruments for transnational organisations. Most of these cross border transactions structured were taking into account the tax haven islands of Guersney and new islands. During early 1986 he was sponsored by Hambros for a course on international finance to the international society of financial advisors in the US. He completed the course, became a member and was requested by the society to continue PHD as well as assigned as asst. Professor at the temple university. On completion of his PHD he joined M/s Khun Loeb & Peabody (an international firm on formulations of economic strategies) for both green and grey field projects. He returned to India during 1997, as representative of Toronto dominion bank, Amtrade International Bank, and 2i Capital Ltd. He was invited as visiting professor of the Indian Institute of Managements at all their chapters. He joined the board of a few international banks, insurance and venture capital companies. Looking into the opportunity of distressed assets management in India he alongwith few other ex-SBI officers promoted Pegasus Advisory Services Ltd. Pegasus is the only organisation in the private sector approved by the Reserve Bank of India as an asset reconstruction company. Pegasus is still awaiting the approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for its equity participation of its foreign equity from Blackstone Inc., of the US. But within a short span it has successfully taken up and resolved a number of distressed assets. In his personal capacity he advises many large Indian both public and private sector organisations on a retainership basis. Although these assignments are strictly on ncnd terms but a few can be sighted with due permission from them, like Killick Nixon (I) Ltd., Escorts Ltd., The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd., Orind Refractories Ltd., Essel Group of Companies. , Weizmann Forex Ltd., Soundcraft Industries Ltd., etc. He is now ventured into promoting M/s ADM Consultants Private Limited alongwith a few other professionals. He aspires to create a global platform for aspiring specialists in various niche areas exchange ideas, take up borderless assignments and allocate the best resources for successful and satisfactory completion. |
